Consequences Are For Others
Lie a nation into war?
Profit from same war?
Shoot a friend in the face after a few drinks?
Expose a covert CIA agent?
Let a friend take the rap?
No problem; consequences are for the little people.

Sigh. If Cheney lied, so did everyone at the CIA, British MI6, and others in G8 intelligence circles, along with Joseph Wilson, husband and receiver of nepotism-based assignments to Nigeria from non-covert Valerie Plame.

Incidentally, Cheney sold of nearly all of his Halliburton stock when he decided to reenter politics (more than $35MM) and what he did retain was vested, meaning he could not pull it from the company without forfeiting it. Also, none of his stock options were flexible, i.e., they were options to be exercised at specific prices. This means he had essentially a fixed amount of money coming from Halliburton, contract in Iraq or no. Next?
If you shoot someone and they choose not to press charges, how is that your fault? The laws work the same for you, but you just don’t have any hunting buddies who would understand.
Valerie Plame was not covert by any stretch of the imagination. She was working under her real name in Langley. This means not covert. That whole thing was a politically motivated mess. Don’t you think if the had evidence to convict they would’ve gone after everyone from Libby to Cheney to Karl Rove?
Libby got sentenced for perjuring himself, not for outing an already non-covert desk jockey at Langley.
But ooohh, doesn’t he look so evil!
Your thing takes greater than as an open html bracket. Reposting!

Sigh. If Cheney lied, so did everyone ….
Actually, that’s quite untrue. There were very big disagreements in the CIA, the State Dept’s INR, as well with the intelligence services of several foreign nations including the UK and Germany. I’d invite to do some research on the Iraqi defector, code-named ‘Curveball.’ Curveball formed the basis for Powell’s disastrous UN presentation as well as several NIEs. Yet, German intelligence and the UN had been telling us Curveball was a fraud.
This link provides a good summary as to the claims WRT Iraq’s WMDs and what was actually known at the time. The conclusion is that there was widespread dissent as to Iraq’s capabilities.
