Tom King-Dishonest Censor

Seems Tom King is catching a bit of well-deserved flak from his fellow travellers.

As I noted earlier, gunloons are all for “reasoned discourse” so long as it’s discourse that is approved by them and doesn’t deviate from the party line.

Debating the GunLoons (Part VIII)

Case Study: Tom King

Background: “I’m a husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and local businessman who happens to be President of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association as well as a hunter and outdoor enthusiast who believes unequivocally in the individual right to keep and bear arms.”

Discussion: Dumb as Box of Rocks

Many gunloons like to pretend they’re the bulwark between our liberties and going straight to the gulag without passing ‘Go.’ As such, many gunloon bloggers claim they never censor speech or delete comments or ban people.

Tom King is such a gunloon. In a discussion of the NRA’s efforts to allow felons access to firearms–I provided a cite from the Violence Policy Center (VPC).

That earned me a quick banning. Tom King sent me an email as to why:

Jadegold,

The Violence Policy Center is not a viable citation for proof of an NRA position, that’s like asking Israel to give a recommendation for Syria. I will allow your statement regarding gun ownership because I do not have time to check it out right now. I could have stated, as I saw in an earlier post, that CBS and the Georgetown Professor were anti gun hacks. I do believe either you or warvet did make a similar statement regarding John Lott.

Tom King

Tom’s not the brightest bulb out there…

    Update:

Here is the response I emailed to the Tom King-Dishonest Censor:

You’re dishonest. Essentially, you’re saying no citation concerning the NRA is viable because it doesn’t come from the NRA.

If you were honest, you’d cite a reason why VPC is wrong.

If you ever have the poor judgment to cite John Lott–it wouldn’t be too difficult to show why he’s not credible.

Tucker Carlson-The Quintessential Conservative

In a discussion about Senator Larry Craig’s (R-ID) odd dating habits, Tucker Carlson, conservative talkshow host and all-around toughguy told of how he handled Craig-like advances in public toilets:

ABRAMS: But Tucker, your position has long been on these kinds of stories that their personal lives are not our business. Does this case qualify for that, in your mind, as well?

CARLSON: Let me be clear, Dan. I am not gay. I have never been gay. I overreacted and made a poor decision.

SCARBOROUGH: And you love your — you love your wife, Tucker. Let me just say for the record, I am not gay, either.

CARLSON: Let me — let me put it this way. Whether he’s gay or not actually is not our business, and I do think it’s indefensible that the newspaper in Idaho spent a year interviewing 300 people to answer the question, Is he gay? That’s none of your business. Having sex in a public men’s room is outrageous. It’s also really common. I’ve been bothered in men’s rooms. I think people who do -

SCARBOROUGH: Really?

CARLSON: Yeah, I have. You know what, Let me just say.

SCARBOROUGH: Wait, hold on a second. Dan, hold on a second. I don’t mean to take over, but have you been bothered in public restrooms, Dan? Because I know I haven’t.

CARLSON: I have. I’ve been bothered in Georgetown Park. When I was in high school.

ABRAMS: Really?

CARLSON: Yes.

SCARBOROUGH: Wow.

…………………..
ABRAMS: Tucker, what did you do, by the way? What did you do when he did that? We got to know.

CARLSON: I went back with someone I knew and grabbed the guy by the — you know, and grabbed him, and — and —

ABRAMS: And did what?

CARLSON: Hit him against the stall with his head, actually!

[laughter]

CARLSON: And then the cops came and arrested him. But let me say that I’m the least anti-gay right-winger you’ll ever meet —

[laughter]

There you have it–Tucker Carlson is the quintessential conservative. Not only does he display the typical thuggish behavior of a rightwinger by beating up a gay man—he pathetically has to enlist the help of a friend to ‘fight his battles’ for him.

Little wonder you see so many conservatives who are all for invading Iraq and Iran but seek others to actually do the fighting.

Looking for Love Iin all the Wrong Places….

Yet another Republican protector of “Family Values” has been found to not exactly practice what he preaches. Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) was arrested in June of this year and convicted of lewd conduct:

Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) was arrested in June at a Minnesota airport by a plainclothes police officer investigating lewd conduct complaints in a men’s public restroom, according to an arrest report obtained by Roll Call Monday afternoon.
Craig’s arrest occurred just after noon on June 11 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. On Aug. 8, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct in the Hennepin County District Court. He paid more than $500 in fines and fees, and a 10-day jail sentence was stayed. He also was given one year of probation with the court that began on Aug. 8.

What is it about Republicans and men’s rooms?

Truly Dumb Comments

There are comments thjat are so ignorant, your head hurts after reading them because your own brain cells start committing suicide.

Example: G(lenn) Chapman (Chapomatic) Godbey’s classic:

What makes it a shame is that we really need more than one party that understands war. I need it so that my efforts at work aren’t wasted, if not worse…

Posted by Chap at 1814Z

Yep, Iraq has proven the GOP understands war…..

Well, we have another candidate for sheer idiocy. In a discussion of malpractice suits and their contribution to healthcare costs, Wiserbud opined a major reason why there were so many Americans without healthcare insurance is…well…because they didn’t want it:

As for your claim of 50 million uninsured, wow. So 10 million additional people have been added to the ranks of the uninsured in just a few weeks. That’s incredible. I wonder if we can subtract the millions who choose not have insurance, whom you would force to have insurance against their will, or the millions of others in these surveys who, even if they didn’t have insurance for just a few weeks, due to changing jobs or whatever, are considered to be uninsured for the purposes of the survey (real bad surveying practice, unless you are trying to skew the data. And no one would be trying to do that, would they?)

There you have it. The reason why there are so many uninsured Americans is that they don’t want healthcare insurance.

Take a couple of Advil.

There Are Three Kinds of Lies And Neptunus Lex Tells Them All

It’s kind of amusing watching Neptunus Lex bloviate about honor, truth, integrity.

The dimunitive halfwit decided to call David Cay Johnston of the NYTimes a liar because he didn’t care for an article entitled 2005 Incomes, on Average, Still Below 2000 Peak . In the article, Johnston uses US Government data to show that, on average, Americans earned a smaller average income in 2005 than 2000 after adjusting for inflation.

Even the White House acknowledged the numbers were accurate.

But Little Lord LeFauntleroy was incensed. He called Johnston a liar. But Johnston showed up in comments and defended himself. The pocket warrior backed down as most thugs do when confronted.

The GOP and Its Dupes

GOPer fleeces the simple-minded and dim-witted:

Linda Chavez rose to prominence in the 1980s as a tart-tongued Reagan administration official and candidate for the Senate, eventually becoming a well-known Latina voice on social issues and President Bush’s choice to lead the Labor Department. With her conservative celebrity came book deals, a syndicated column, regular appearances on the Fox News Channel — and a striking but little-known success at political fundraising.
…………………………………….

That’s not where the bulk of the money wound up being spent, however. Of the $24.5 million raised by the PACs from January 2003 to December 2006, $242,000 — or 1 percent — was passed on to politicians, according to a Washington Post analysis of federal election reports. The PACs spent even less — $151,236 — on independent political activity, such as mailing pamphlets.

Instead, most of the donations were channeled back into new fundraising efforts, and some were used to provide a modest but steady source of income for Chavez and four family members, who served as treasurers and consultants to the committees. Much of the remaining funds went to pay for expenses such as furniture, auto repairs and insurance, and rent for the Sterling office the groups share. Even Chavez’s health insurance was paid for a time from political donations.

“I guess you could call it the family business,” Chavez said in an interview.

Is There A Bigger Drama Queen Than Neptunus Lex?

Answer: Nope.

The Scott Beauchamp/TNR dustup has really twisted CAPT Leadbottom’s underoos.

Apparently, our diminutive warrior believes that Beauchamp’s diaries sully the character of our entire military–past, present, and future. So much so, the little one clutches his pearls, gazes to the heavens, and bleats (in comments):

[

What Beauchamp has done] is to open up the chest and sh!t in the heart of all the rest of them out there, to besmirch the battle buddies by his side by claiming for himself an unearned world weariness, that “been in the shit” thousand yard stare, a moral degradation that we were expected to believe was general - or else what was the point?

Sweet Jesus, there are tougher four year-old girls than the very delicate Neptunus Lex.

The thing of it is I know Neptunus Lex doesn’t believe his own feigned outrage; most butter bars learn pretty quickly that young sailors, soldiers, airmen, and marines can and will do things that simply defy belief. I’ve seen a seaman second class bring a WWII-era Japanese grenade he found in Guam back to his DDG. I’ve seen a Chief’s lounge that was meticulously built and hidden away on a CVN. The stories I could tell…

But I digress. Neptunus Lex is merely playing for the crowd. He knows better. But he has to pretend the troops are noble ascetics because it plays into hs own self-righteous matyrdom.

More to come.

2LT Christopher Cross USA Waves his DD214

Yes, the dumbest lawyer in the US Army™ threatened Scott Beauchamp–a PFC serving in Iraq–with criminal charges.

Several commenters took issue with Chrissie’s nonsense and this prompted the dumbest lawyer in the US Army™ to aver:

But hey, while we’re feeling saucy, tell me what’s on your DD214? Until then, spare me.

Hmmm. What is on Chrissie’s 214? Well, since he graduated from law school a little over a year ago, our intrepid warrior has attended OCS-lite ( two-week school where new officers are fitted for uniforms and learn the basics of military etiquette, history, and structure. Training includes moderate physical exercise) after which he was sent to his current duty station on the frontlines of….Kentucky?

Meanwhile, Scott Beauchamp is living the good life in that sultry garden spot, Iraq.
