Debating the GunLoons (Part VIII)

Case Study: Tom King

Background: “I’m a husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and local businessman who happens to be President of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association as well as a hunter and outdoor enthusiast who believes unequivocally in the individual right to keep and bear arms.”

Discussion: Dumb as Box of Rocks

Many gunloons like to pretend they’re the bulwark between our liberties and going straight to the gulag without passing ‘Go.’ As such, many gunloon bloggers claim they never censor speech or delete comments or ban people.

Tom King is such a gunloon. In a discussion of the NRA’s efforts to allow felons access to firearms–I provided a cite from the Violence Policy Center (VPC).

That earned me a quick banning. Tom King sent me an email as to why:

Jadegold,

The Violence Policy Center is not a viable citation for proof of an NRA position, that’s like asking Israel to give a recommendation for Syria. I will allow your statement regarding gun ownership because I do not have time to check it out right now. I could have stated, as I saw in an earlier post, that CBS and the Georgetown Professor were anti gun hacks. I do believe either you or warvet did make a similar statement regarding John Lott.

Tom King

Tom’s not the brightest bulb out there…

    Update:

Here is the response I emailed to the Tom King-Dishonest Censor:

You’re dishonest. Essentially, you’re saying no citation concerning the NRA is viable because it doesn’t come from the NRA.

If you were honest, you’d cite a reason why VPC is wrong.

If you ever have the poor judgment to cite John Lott–it wouldn’t be too difficult to show why he’s not credible.

  1. What kind of name is “Jadegold”?

  2. coming from one who has a history of selectively editing posts to make false claims, your integrity is not exactly up to snuff either.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 9:30 am

  3. Thirdpower: where have I edited a post? To date, on this blog, I have deleted exactly two posts–both of which seemed to be weird religious tracts concerning the End Days and I suspect were spam.

But you’re certainly free to speculate on those conspiracies that exist only in your head.

You selectively edited my post and made false claims as to what I said.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:03 am

  5. Thirdpower: You’re delusional. I have no power to edit, change, revise or delete anything on Robyn’s blog. Heck, half the time I can’t get my comments to show up there.

  6. JadeGold, you’re a flat out liar. You know you edited the response and made false claims as to what I said.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:09 am

  7. Thirdpower: You are free to contact Robyn and ask her if I have any administrator privileges on her blog. She’ll tell you ‘no.’

Of course, it could be a conspiracy against you.

  8. Talk about delusional, Jade. Did I say anything about “administrator privileges”? Nope. Beat those strawmen some more. Deny the evidence all you want, it just shows how disingenuous you are.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:16 am

  9. Thirdpower: Indeed, the evidence is there. You can email Robyn and ask if I’ve ever edited anyones comment on her blog.

Why are you afraid of asking her? Is that you don’t want to know the truth?

    Comment by Administrator — August 31, 2007 @ 10:22 am

  10. God you’re sad. You edit my comments in your response and then go on about “administrators” in an attempt to distract from reality.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:25 am

  11. Well, Thirdpower, having administrator rights on a blog is the only way one can edit comments od another.

What’s sad is you know you’re not telling the truth and you realize there is a very easy way to determine this. As a matter of fact–I’ll do the work for you. I’ll drop Robyn a line and ask her if she’ll corroborate your claim or not.

    Comment by Administrator — August 31, 2007 @ 10:35 am

  12. You go ahead and do that Jade. I never stated you had administrator rights on her blog. You keep selectively changing the facts all you want and keep on posting. You do more for us than multiple pro-gun blogs.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:36 am

  13. Here’s the pertinant part of my post for those others reading:

“Now sweetie, you didn’t actually read Westens diatribe, did you? Otherwise you may have noticed his little tirade against republicans and the NRA:

“With the polls strongly at their backs, Democrats had a historic opportunity to turn the Republicans’ indifference to the suffering at Virginia Tech into a moral condemnation, and to put every Republican in Congress on record as caring more about the blood-soaked dollars of the NRA than about the lives of our children.”

As well as the usual lies:

This [the gun on his right] is an assault weapon.

Talking about an M-16. Oh, right, an M-16 isn’t an “assault weapon” so he did lie. Just one example. ”

    And your response:

““With the polls strongly at their backs, Democrats had a historic opportunity to turn the Republicans’ indifference to the suffering at Virginia Tech into a moral condemnation, and to put every Republican in Congress on record as caring more about the blood-soaked dollars of the NRA than about the lives of our children.”

And the lie is where? Are you saying polls didn’t favor greater gun control? No?”

    Notice anything missing?

  14. Thirdpower: I’m amused; keep it up. I edited this, how?

    Comment by Administrator — August 31, 2007 @ 10:45 am

  15. Ahh, you are that disingenuous. Even w/ it right in front of you. Good to know.

    Comment by thirdpower — August 31, 2007 @ 10:47 am

  16. Thirdpower: Ahh, you are silly. Good to know.
