Look, if you’re a one issue voter–the way you vote on that one issue is how your politics are identified. It only makes sense–if you consistently vote for GOPers, you’re no longer a progressive–you’re a Republican.
Pretending otherwise is just dishonest. Example: say you like to don white robes and march in KKK parades. You can protest to the high heavens that you really believe in civil rights and brotherhood but the fact is you’ve marched with the Klan. And there’s no way around that fact except to lie.
