“Dissent” and “Patriotism” - If you’re going to take the time to dress up in colonial garb, carrying a sign proclaiming your most profound thought, it might be a good idea to check a dictionary first. This protester is conveying two messages. The first, written, was intended. The second, by deciding he knows how to spell without bothering to check his facts, he shows his willingness to reach opinion without due consideration. The second discredits the first. Sadly, this whole protest became a huge embarrassment because of the double-entendre of “tea-bagging.”
